BCNU kicks off support for this year's Run for the Cure
You can register on-line to be part of the BCNU "national team" to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer
BCNU is participating once again this year as a major sponsor of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
CIBC Run for the Cure.
This is an excellent opportunity for all members to join in and help raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer, an issue that concerns so many members and our families. As a major sponsor
BCNU is donating $25,000.
The run takes place October 5, 2008. But activities to help organize BCNU's team start now. Local volunteers from Run for the Cure, along with your local BCNU captains are planning to attend your next regional meeting to encourage you to register for the run.
BCNU will be participating in the following communities with our own tents, banners and giveaway/literature tables: Abbotsford, Castlegar, Golden, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, Prince George, Nanaimo, Port McNeil, Victoria, and Vancouver.
You can get involved by registering at the Run for the Cure website. Make sure you register as part of our "national team" which will be called "BCNU", under your "captain" Colette Wickstrom.
On the home page click "register" then select the community where you wish to run. Then you'll be asked to fill in your personal information completely and agree to a waiver. Then you can join the BCNU team.
Click on "I want to join an existing team at my run location". Then enter "BCNU" and our captain's last name "Wickstrom".
You have a number of options to pay the registration fee. You can pay the $40 fee yourself (t-shirt included if you register by September 19). The registration fee is waived for adults who fundraise and collect $150 or more and for youth (under 18) who raise $50 or more (t-shirt included). The registration fee is also waived for anyone who personally donates $150. Participation is free for youth (under 18) who do not raise $50 or pay the registration fee up front (t-shirt not included).
Please note: the registration fee itself is non-refundable and does not qualify for a tax receipt. Your personal donation of $150 will be tax receiptable.
