Two years into the pandemic, many nurses feel betrayed and abandoned by government, health employers, and our own union. Staffing is abysmal in most areas, contributing to dangerous working conditions and negative patient outcomes. As a workforce, we are physically exhausted and morally injured. Nurses continue to work at risk, often without appropriate PPE, are exposed to violence and treated by the employer as disposable.
The situation is critical, and I will work with the BCNU to be a strong and influential union that fights for its members! Our priority must be ensuring appropriate staffing levels, safe working conditions and fair compensation. Not expending energy on internal conflict. To do this, we need bold, experienced, and accountable leadership that gets results. I am that leader and will work tirelessly to deliver improvements, foster unity, and prioritize the needs of the membership.

Hello, my name is Jenn Northey and I am seeking your vote for Vice President of BCNU. I have been a LPN since 2012, and a member of BCNU since 2015. I was previously a steward for a LTC and acute care. I loved being a steward, pouring over contracts, meeting different members, sitting on committees and pouring my heart and soul into fighting for our nurses. This changed a couple years ago, and I felt like I was a fighting a loosing battle, overwhelmed by the demands of nursing, being a steward and having a personal life. This needed to change! Our voices must be heard. We must stand up for what we believe in! I am not afraid to get in front of a crowd, our employers, the government or the media and start demanding change.
