OHS Representative

As a RN with 24 years experience across acute care and community settings, I am deeply committed to fostering a safer work environment for nurses.
After a shoulder injury caused by manual stretchers, I joined the JOSH committee, successfully advocated for electric stretchers. I've led worksite evaluations, promoted safety inititatives ensuring that health and safety remained a priority on our units.
Beyond my committee involvement, I have served as a Patient Care Coordinator, developing strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate effetively with teams. I understand the importance of advocacy, mentorship and injury prevention.
As OH&S rep. I will work to strengthen workplace safety, support members and promote initiatives.

I am an LPN with 9 years experience working acute and long-term/complex care in both the public and private sectors. I am currently employed with Interior Health and have been for the past 7 years. As an active BCNU Steward and JOHSc member, I advocate for creating a safe environment both mentally and physically for our members. I work well as an interdisciplinary team member with effective, open communication. My passion for education and expanding my knowledge is apparent in my career as a nurse and active steward. I would value the opportunity to expand my skills and become a resource for members as a Regional Occupational Health and Safety Representative.

I have been an active Union member since working as a grocer in my teen years. One the last five years I have engaged more as a Union activist, participating with a critical eye and acting as a fair communicator. I am known to be the “Union guy” on my unit and do my very best to be familiar with our collective agreement and how it applies to the day to day work that we as Nurses do. This has led me to become a Steward.
I have professional been impacted by OH&S and I know all Nurses will be at some point in there careers. It is important to me that Union Members, Admin staff and the Executive have a strong footing in OH&S and are able to work well with Management and and Work-safe as well as Nurses to make for the safest workplace possible.
