Hello everyone. My name is Samantha McKinley and I am running for the Regional Professional Responsibility Advocate. I have had a wonderful journey to my LPN career for over the past 20 years, 18 of them being at KBRH with surgical being my home.

  • I am here to advocate for adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards established by BCCNM.
  • Advocate for mental health and support for nurses to ensure their wellbeing, recognizing that nurses health directly impacts patient care quality.
  • Mentor and support nursing students and new graduates in understanding their professional responsibilities, ethical dilemmas, and the importance of advocacy in their practice.
  • identify and address workplace challenges that impact nurses.

Hi WK nurses! I’m currently a registered nurse on the renal unit at KBRH and have previous experience working in units in Castlegar, Nelson, and Grand Forks. Currently, I am one of the stewards at KBRH. My goal running for the PR position is to support you in your practice, specifically to support safe practice for us and our patients. My hope if I am to be elected into this role is to truly have a voice for you all, the West Kootenay nurses, as during my time involved in the union thus far, I’ve seen a passion and drive for change amongst you all. I too share your passion and drive, and I’d be honoured to support you in a new way as the PR advocate for the west kootenay area.
