CFNU President Report: Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios a Top Priority

The second day of Convention 2024 kicked off with a presentation by special guest Linda Silas, president of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions (CFNU).
Silas began by telling delegates how proud she is of BCNU’s work on behalf of its members in the areas of labour relations and the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts.
Members Debate Bylaw Amendments

There was lively discussion on day one of Convention 2024 as delegates debated proposed amendments to BCNU’s Constitution and Bylaws.
An amendment to Article 5 was carried that allows the Nominations Committee to amend the ticket of nominations for elections, including the removal of a candidate’s name from the ballot when they choose to withdraw or move out of the province.
BCNU Leadership Awards Presentation

Convention 2024 delegates were treated to the BCNU’s leadership awards presentation on day two of the union’s annual meeting.
BCNU President Adriane Gear presented the awards to two members who were acknowledged before their peers for their exceptional contributions to nursing and their communities.
