Biography
Tristan Newby was elected vice president of BCNU in 2023.
Tristan graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley in 2010. He completed an emergency room specialty program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2012. In his nursing career, he has worked in the areas of mental health, public health, emergency, and site leadership/access.
Tristan has had many roles in BCNU, including ward representative, human rights and equity representative, steward, and communications secretary. Most recently, he was the one of the regional council members for BCNU's Simon Fraser region.
As vice president, Tristan is committed to advocating for nurses, working with members to further their union engagement and recognizing union advocates.
In his spare time, Tristan enjoys volunteering for Scouts Canada and spending time with his family on the water or in the mountains.
