BCNU Elections 2017: Call for Nominations

Members in good standing welcome to submit their nomination form to run in upcoming provincial and regional elections

Starting Monday, April 10, BCNU members can submit their nomination to run in the 2017 BCNU elections for the union's provincial or regional executive committees.

It is important to note that there have been significant changes to the Candidate Responsibilities and related policies since the previous election. For example, Policy 5.1.3, which was to provide up to $3,000 in funding to BCNU candidates seeking election as BCNU provincial executive members, is no longer in effect.

Documents will be made available for review on Monday, April 10 at www.bcnu.org. Members are encouraged to review all documents prior to submitting their nomination form.

Elections will be held May 23 - June 2, 2017 for the following provincial executive positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Executive Councillor (2 positions)

Regional elections will also be held for:

  • Regional Chair(s)
  • Communications/Secretary
  • Lobby Coordinator
  • Mental Health Advocate
  • OH&S Representative
  • Professional Responsibility Advocate
  • Steward Liaison
  • Treasurer

A member who wishes to run for any of the above positions must submit their nomination form to BCNU no later than 1200 on April 21, 2017. Nomination forms must be submitted electronically.

The form will be available online after 0900 on Monday, April 10 at www.bcnu.org.
