CUPE Local 873 picket lines at Vancouver General Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital, Surrey Memorial Hospital and St. Paul?s Hospital

CUPE is in a legal position to strike today, June 1 at 11:59 pm. All BCNU members will continue to provide their normal level of service during the course of any job action by CUPE Local 873 and should report to work as scheduled.

HEABC did apply to the Labor Relations Board (LRB) for an order in respect to common site picketing and as such the decision was made by the LRB to restrict picketing at the moment to the Royal Columbian Hospital, Surrey Memorial Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital. Picketing in each case is geographically limited so that no entrances to the facilities may be picketed ? in all cases CUPE members must picket at least 8 feet away from certain designated entrances.

CUPE must provide 72 hours notice if they seek to picket at any other site and there can be no picketing elsewhere unless the LRB has first issued an order in regards to that site.

If any member encounters restrictions to access to the facility or any other untoward activity by CUPE members, please ask them to report this issue to their regional chairs or stewards as soon as possible.
