Steward Intermediate is a two-day course designed to strengthen the ability of BCNU stewards to address issues in their workplaces and support BCNU members. This blended online course reinforces key issues in labour relations already covered in Steward Essentials, including progressive discipline, investigations, reading and interpreting collective agreements, and the grievance process. It covers additional principles by looking further into the need for grievance file management and the arbitration processes while introducing labour relations tenets. Stewards will also participate in practice sessions and be encouraged to integrate BCNU member advocacy services into their role, providing awareness in areas such as OHS, the LEAP program, the Professional Responsibility process and Human Rights and Equity advocacy.
IMPORTANT: Please note, this course will be administered through the BCNU Learning Centre, BCNU's new learning management system. To take this course, you will need to create a new user account for the BCNU Learning Centre (if you do not already have one) and apply for this course through the Learning Centre Catalogue.
