This introductory course gives new BCNU worksite stewards the tools to create and maintain a consistent practice to advocate for and empower members to stand up for themselves and protect their workplace rights. It covers key components of steward work and examines the grievance process so that stewards can present grievances confidently at the Step 1 level.
Steward Essentials is a blended learning course comprised of weekly online learning activities and two live sessions scheduled over a four-week period.
Online learning activities start on Aug. 25, 2025 and two in-person sessions are on Sept. 17-18, 2025.
This course is delivered through the BCNU Learning Centre, BCNU's learning management system. Stewards need to log in or create a new user account to apply.
BCNU reimburses participants for two days’ salary.
