Steward Intermediate

Steward Intermediate is designed to strengthen the ability of BCNU stewards to address issues in their workplaces while supporting BCNU members. The course reinforces key concepts taught in Steward Essentials by exploring labour relations theory about progressive discipline. It also covers union investigations, reading and interpreting collective agreements, and the grievance process. Additional learning activities focus on communicating effectively in difficult conversations and integrating member advocacy services provided by BCNU.

Steward Intermediate is a blended learning course comprised of weekly online learning activities and two live sessions scheduled over a four-week period.

Online learning activities start on Sept. 22, 2025 and live session are on Oct. 15, 2025 (in-person), and Oct. 16, 2025 (in-person) at the BCNU Burnaby office.

This course is delivered through the BCNU Learning Centre, BCNU's learning management system. Stewards need to log in or create a new user account to apply.

BCNU reimburses participants for two days’ salary.
