Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee Training

Joint Occupational Health and Safety (JOHS) committees are a cornerstone of effective health and safety programs. JOHS committees have a range of duties including the ability to inspect workplaces, investigate OHS concerns, and make recommendations to employers. In this interactive one-day course, JOHS committee representatives learn about the crucial role they play in creating and maintain safe, healthy worksites for all members.
This is a blended learning course. It begins with online learner prep two weeks prior to the live (virtual) session. During the virtual session, Members will complete activities and review 'just in time' online resources available to support them in fulfilling their role.
Salary Reimbursement: In order to receive salary reimbursement for this course, you will need to apply for Union Leave with your employer.
Pre-requisites:
- Must have completed 8 hours of JOHSC instruction and training provided by the employer in accordance with section 3.27 of the OHSR
- Must be a current BCNU worker representative on a Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
- Attendance of at least one JOHSC meeting prior to the course date is preferred
Priority acceptance will be given to applicants who have satisfied all pre-requisites.
