LPN Registration Renewal Now Open

November 04, 2016
Applications received by November 30 to receive priority status

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) BC Nurses' Union members are being reminded to submit their applications to renew their College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) registration for 2017.* To ensure your application has been processed in time for the new year, you are encouraged to submit your application by November 30. The CLPNBC website states that registration applications received after November 30 may experience delays in processing.

If you miss the deadline or don't renew, you cannot practice or volunteer as an LPN in BC. Remember that working as an LPN without CLPNBC registration is an offence under the Health Professions Act and is considered professional misconduct.

If you work without current practicing registration, you will be required to pay an additional fee of $200 and may be subject to an investigation by the Inquiry Committee.

To learn more about the registration renewal process, visit the CLPNBC website.

*The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC) is the regulatory body that governs the regulation of licensed practical nurses in British Columbia (B.C.). Its authority comes from the Health Professions Act, the Nurses (Licensed Practical) Regulation and CLPNBC Bylaws. Under section 21 (2) of the Health Professions Act, CLPNBC must maintain a register of individuals who are regulated by the College. The Registry helps the public confirm that an individual who is providing licensed practical nursing services in B.C. is registered with CLPNBC.
