Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Week started in 1951 to raise awareness for mental health in Canada.
The Canadian Mental Health Association's #b4stage4 campaign is asking, "What if we waited until stage 4 to treat cancer? We'd never allow our system of care to treat cancer the way we treat mental illness and addiction. Yet people are often left waiting for care. Some are too ashamed to even ask for help. The standard of treatment should be equal between mental and physical health conditions." BCNU is encouraging our members to support the B4 Stage4 campaign which is dedicated to creating this equitable system of care.
BCNU is a powerful voice for mental health advocacy. Our commitment is to advocate for patients and families and to offer ideas grounded in best practice and evidence, informed by the front-line experience of our members. We encourage all members to consider their own mental wellness and that of their loved ones not only during this awareness week, but all year:
