$50 premium must continue for eligible members in the Nurses' Bargaining Association (NBA)
BCNU and HEABC agree that the $50 monthly premium payable to regular employees in certain designated areas under Appendix M of the NBA PCA must continue. The parties will meet to consider the best use of this ongoing funding but existing payments will continue in the meantime.
Recently, some employers notified staff that this premium had ended when the new collective agreement was ratified. This is incorrect and grievances should be filed if the premium is not being paid under the MOU.
Although the MOU was specifically in effect until the end of the collective agreement term, the MOU also requires that the associated funding must continue on an ongoing basis. The MOU provides for the parties to meet to reach agreement on the application of that ongoing funding.
HEABC has agreed that the existing premium must continue in the meantime. BCNU expects that the funding that is available under the MOU will be used to continue the premium.
The premium is payable to regular employees in:
- Operating Room and Post Anaesthetic Room (OR/PAR) with permanently assigned staff
- Emergency Departments (ER) with permanently assigned staff;
- Intensive Care/Critical Care Units (ICU/CCU) with permanently assigned staff.
