A special message to BCNU members this Labour Day
Thank you for continuing to speak up for safe, quality, public health care
While the stat holiday is a welcomed day off for Canadians, and a signal to the end of summer, it also carries with it an important historical significance. Labour Day was established in 1872 to recognize the contribution that ordinary working people have made to the Canadian way of life. The union movement has helped to build a country that respects people's rights. This includes; the right to fair wages, safe working conditions, support and compensation for injured workers and equality for all.
As we move forward together as a strong dynamic voice for nurses and nursing in British Columbia, BCNU will continue stand up for health care and fight for fairness, equality and justice.
Over the next few days we are reaching out to the public and to each and every one of our 42,000 members with a print advertisement that celebrates the role nurses play in their communities, and serves to remind us that Labour day and every day, we will speak up for safe, quality, public health care.
