BCNU celebrates National Nursing Week

May 09, 2014
The vital role nurses play every single day across British Columbia will be recognized during National Nursing Week, taking place from May 12th - 18th 2014.

A message from BCNU President Debra McPherson will air on radio stations across the province beginning Monday. In the message, McPherson thanks the thousands of highly skilled professionals in our province who make the difference between life and death and advocate for safe patient care.

"It's crucially important that nurses are recognized for their daily efforts," says McPherson. "As a representative of over 40,000 licensed and regulated nurses in British Columbia, BCNU is proud to celebrate National Nursing Week and the work nurses do for their communities."

The message also addresses the positive impact nurses play at the bedside and everywhere in BC and will air through the week on: CKNW 980AM, CKWX News1130, Mountain FM, 102.7 The Peak, JRFM, 103.5 QMFM, The Wave and CFAX on Vancouver Island, all Bell Media Stations, and all VISTA stations.

"While we celebrate nurses during National Nursing Week, BCNU will continue to fight the implementation of ill-conceived new care delivery models like Island Health's CDMR, which affects nurses' abilities to provide safe, quality care to patients in their communities. We continue to work to preserve the rights of nurses across the province, including their right to a safe and healthy workplace," says McPherson.
