Check your 2013 pension statement

May 02, 2014
BCNU is encouraging members to check the accuracy of the pensionable service amounts recorded on pension statements

Any member working 1.0 FTE should be receiving a full year of pension credit

BCNU is encouraging members to check the accuracy of the pensionable service amounts recorded on pension statements that will be arriving in the mail.

The information on your pension statement is provided to the pension plan by your employer. Please note:

  • If you work full time and have taken no unpaid leave of absence your 2013 pension statement should show 12 months of pensionable service
  • The introduction of the 37.5-hour workweek in April 2013 should not impact on your pensionable service
  • Pensionable service for regular part time and casual employees in the pension plan will be based on actual time worked and paid into the pension

If you believe you did not receive the correct amount, please send an email query to your employer (Payroll or Human Resources). Your employer must explain why your pensionable service is less than 12 months.

If you worked full time, took no unpaid leaves, and your statement shows less than 12 months of service, please ask your employer to correct it.

If you do not agree with your employer's response and have further questions, please consult your worksite steward.

If you are NOT receiving updates, news, and events emailed to you, log in to the BCNU Member Portal and update your information.
