To commemorate the Day of Mourning, remembrance events will be held across BC on April 28th. Workers in Canada and around the world who have been tragically injured or lost their lives while working are remembered and honoured.

In BC there were 128 fatalities in 2013. That's more than 2 people each week that lost their lives while doing their job.

Healthcare is Not an Exception

  • WorkSafeBC accepted 13,931 claims in 2012.
  • In 2012, WorkSafeBC accepted 618 healthcare workers' permanent disability claims due to injury or occupational disease.
  • From 2003 - 2012, WorkSafeBC has reported 24 deaths among healthcare professionals.
