BCNU celebrates Vancouver's 2014 Pride Parade and Festival

BCNU is proud once more to celebrate Vancouver's 2014 Pride Parade and Festival on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Join us as we march in support of co-workers, patients and groups who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual, to the cheers of your grateful community.

Wear colourful scrubs, a vintage nursing uniform, or whatever makes you feel comfortable in your own skin! Our organizers have just one rule: you can dress sexy, or you can dress like a nurse, but please no "sexy nurse" outfits! Bring sun protection, remember to drink water, and wear shoes you can walk in. The route takes about 90 minutes to walk.

Vancouver Pride Parade & Festival: August 3, 2014 Parade: 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm - starts at Robson St. and Thurlow St., heads west to Denman St., along Pacific St. and Beach Ave., finishes at Sunset Beach

BCNU's mustering area is on Thurlow St. between Barclay and Nelson, on the east side of the road. Look for the big blue BCNU Campaign Bus. Please arrive around 11:30 am but no later than 12:00 pm as the parade will start promptly and access to this area will be limited. Organizers suggest NOT driving to the event as street closures start early and parking will be very challenging.

Help needed at BCNU's Pride booth

Another way to participate is to help out at BCNU's booth at the Sunset Beach festival anytime between 10:30 am until 6:00 pm. Your presence reinforces the value of nurses to the public as you share health information and BCNU giveaways. We also offer blood pressure and cap glucose checks and explain what the numbers mean. It's a great opportunity to promote health awareness and people love the chance to thank nurses for their work!

Our BCNU booth needs volunteers for shifts throughout the day ? shifts will average two hours, but if you want to stay longer or can only do one hour that works too.
