Join BCNU at Vancouver Pride 2013!
We'll march in support of co-workers and community members who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender and bisexual. Hear the cheers for BC nurses as we march down Robson and Denman streets.
Wear colourful scrubs, a nursing uniform, or whatever makes you feel comfortable in your own skin! Our organizers have just one rule: You can dress sexy, or you can dress like a nurse, but please no "sexy nurses"! Wear sun protection, remember to drink water, and wear shoes you can march in. The route takes about 90 minutes to walk.
WHAT: Vancouver PRIDE 2013 Parade & Festival
WHEN: PARADE: 11:00 am - 2:00 PM FESTIVAL BOOTH: 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
WHERE: Meeting spot to march with BCNU:
West side of Thurlow Street, just South of Haro Street, Vancouver
BCNU FESTIVAL BOOTH:
Sunset Beach, West of Beach Ave & Bute Street, Vancouver
BCNU's mustering area will be on the west side of Thurlow Street, just south of Haro Street. Plan to arrive around 11am, and no later than noon. Organizers suggest that you do NOT drive to the parade, street closures start early and parking will be very challenging. Public transit may be a better option.
Another way to participate in this year's Vancouver Pride festivities is to help out in BCNU's booth at the Sunset Beach festival anytime from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm. We not only share public health information and reinforce the value of nurses to the public; we also offer blood pressure and cap glucose checks and explain what the numbers mean. It's a great opportunity to promote health awareness, and people love the chance to thank nurses for their work!
