LRB transfers BCNU members at 15 worksites to other unions
BCNU members at 15 worksites have been transferred to other unions because the BC Labour Relations Board has consolidated bargaining units covered by the Nurses' Bargaining Association contract.
BCNU is inviting RNs and LPNs at the following worksites to join the nurses' union by signing BCNU membership applications. When a majority of nurses signed BCNU membership applications, the nurses' union will apply to represent all nurses at the following worksites:
- Alberni-Clayoquot Continuing Care Society (Fir Park and Echo Village)
- Arrowsmith Lodge
- Beacon Community Services
- Britannia Lodge
- Fleetwood Place Care Facility
- Good Shepherd Lodge, White Rock
- Greater Vancouver Community Services
- Jackman Manor
- Little Mountain Residential Care and Housing Society
- Luther Court
- Mennonite Benevolent Society
- Morgan Place
- Nanaimo Travellers Lodge
- St. Elizabeth Health Care
- The Kiwanis Pavilion, Oak Bay
By joining BCNU, nurses at these locations will be represented by other nurses and have access to BCNU's specialized nursing services. And by joining right away, nurses will shorten the amount of time they have to spend in non-nursing unions.
During the interim, stewards and nurses at the affected worksites can continue to attend BCNU regional meetings and will be invited to participate in our preparations for 2014 Bargaining.
The following representatives will help nurses at the affected locations join BCNU.
