Provincial health employers are requesting changes to N95 respirator fit testing requirements

October 02, 2013
BC Health Authorities have recently made an application to WorkSafeBC requesting a change to N95 respirator fit testing requirements.

The employers' application asks for permission to extend the time required between N95 fit tests from one year to two years.

As part of the notification process, all health authorities are required to:

  • post a copy of the application at their worksites
  • provide a copy of the application to worksite joint OH&S committees
  • provide a copy of the application to the union.

BCNU has received a copy of the application and is preparing a response on behalf of all BCNU members.

As a result of the notification process, you may see a notice on worksite bulletin boards describing the application, and where to find more information.

If you are aware of any problems with fit testing in your worksite or would like more information, please contact Georgina Hackett (mailto:ghackett@bcnu.org) at the BCNU OH&S Department.

If you are NOT receiving updates, news, and events emailed to you, log in to the BCNU Member Portal and update your information.
