RSI Survey Results; Winners of Random Draw Announced!

April 11, 2013
Survey reveals over 90% of respondents have experienced the signs and symptoms of RSI

The results are in! In just under a month, 197 members completed BCNU's annual online International Repetitive Strain Injury Awareness Day Discomfort survey to share their experience with RSI.

Winners of the Starbucks gift card were chosen by random draw. Congratulations to Keegan Suttie and Jeanette Prossegger from the Central Vancouver region and Mary Vendencia from Vancouver Metro.

The survey revealed that over 91% of those who participated had experienced signs and symptoms of RSI at some point during their career. Members provided examples of RSI risk factors they encounter in the work they do, such as patient handling, pill crushing, extensive key boarding, securing leur locks, and repetitive motion with preparation set ups.

Preventing RSI is key to employee health. To make a difference at your workplace:

  • Raise concerns early; report risk factors, signs and symptoms of RSI.
  • Seek immediate medical attention, and report symptoms to your employer and WorkSafeBC.
  • Involve your Steward to recommend preventive actions with the Joint OHS Committee.
