National Nursing Week Opportunity

Women Deliver

Imagine attending the world's largest conference on gender equality and the health, rights and wellbeing of girls and women being hosted in Vancouver in June of 2019. The Women Deliver stage attracts the greatest minds, strongest activists and most progressive leaders from across the globe.

The Opportunity

The BC Nurses' Union is celebrating and honouring nurses and the nursing profession during National Nursing Week by sponsoring eight spots to the Women Deliver 2019 Conference being held June 3-6, 2019 in Vancouver. This opportunity is offered as part of BCNU's Professional Practice & Advocacy department activities. Over 6,000 individuals from around the world will be convening and from keynotes to social enterprise pitches, workshops to film festivals, there will be countless opportunities to engage, gather inspiration, and build a more gender equal world. The program includes concurrent sessions and workshops, a speakers' power stage, youth zones, and digital poster sessions.

Celebrating Mentorship

Research supports that there is a high correlation between professional success and a positive mentoring experience. To be considered, you will be required to submit an expression of interest describing how having a nurse mentor has had a positive impact on your nursing practice. APPLY HERE.

Criteria

• The expression of interest is open to BCNU members, including employed student nurses and student nurses.
• Submit an expression of interest (EOI) online by 1600 on March 15.
• Agree to have your EOI and photo be included in BCNU marketing materials, such as the website and social media.
• Agree to be interviewed after the conference for BCNU's Update magazine, sharing your experience and learnings.
• Ability to travel to Vancouver for the conference dates June 3-6, 2019.

The provincial executive will select the successful applicants. Winners will be notified by April 2, 2019. Names will be announced during National Nursing Week May 6-12, 2019.

In addition to conference registration, all travel, accommodation and meal expenses will be provided as per BCNU policy however, there is no salary replacement.
