BCNU Elections 2020 Calendar Confirmed

July 03, 2020
Campaign begins July 24 and voting closes August 21

The campaign and voting periods have now been confirmed for BCNU's 2020 provincial and regional executive committee elections.

The BCNU Nominations Committee has approved the following election calendar:

Nominations open: 15 July (previously announced)

Nominations close: 22 July (previously announced)

Nominations Committee vetting of candidates: 22 July and 23 July

Candidate orientation: 24 July AM until 1200 noon

Election campaign begins: 1200 noon on 24 July

Voting begins: 1200 noon on 14 August

Voting closes: 1200 noon on 21 August

The previously scheduled candidate nomination, campaign and voting periods were postponed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions put in place by BC's Public Health Office.

The Nominations Committee anticipates that the lessening of restrictions under phase 3 of BC's Restart Plan will allow for greater member participation while complying with public health measures.

Any member in good standing who wishes to run for any position can submit their nomination form between 1200 on July 15 and 1200 on July 22, 2020. Nomination forms must be submitted electronically using the BCNU member portal.

Potential nominees may access the following resources now available on the election page of the BCNU website:

  • Candidate job descriptions
  • Candidate endorsement form
  • Sample nomination form
  • Election Eligibility - Steward Experience policy
