Members Advised of College Process for Licence Status Changes
If you have not held a Practising license for more than 60 days, whether you are a former registrant or a current registrant with a Non-Practising license, the application process and reinstatement requirements of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) are the same and include, but are not limited to the following:
Application:
- A completed application form
- Consent to Criminal Record Check (there is no additional fee for the CRC as it is now incorporated into the registration fees)
- Payment of application fee
- Verification of Registration Form from all jurisdiction(s) you are/were registered since you last held registration with BCCNM
- Notarized copies of two government issued identity documents (one must be photo ID)
- Resume of your nursing experience
- Employment Verification Form(s) for each of your nursing employers within the last five years.
Requirements for Reinstatement:
- Evidence of compliance with all Quality Assurance Program requirements at the time you last held practising registration;
- Evidence of maintenance of knowledge, skills and abilities as a LPN, PRN, RN, NP, or successful completion of an exam or upgrading your knowledge, skills or abilities
- Evidence of good character,
- Evidence of fitness to practice, and
- Payment of any outstanding fines or fees.
BCNU encourages our nurse members to familiarize themselves with the BCCNM reinstatement process and requirements before deciding to either relinquish their registration or convert their registration to Non-Practising status for any reason. Examples include maternity leave, long-term disability leave etc.
