Personal Leave Language and Working Short Premium will be Effective April 1

March 13, 2020
Related in-person meetings and other union events suspended due to COVID-19 pandemic

BCNU members covered by the Nurses' Bargaining Association (NBA) will see the working short premium and the personal leave language come into effect as per the terms of the 2019-2022 NBA provincial collective agreement.

Information related to the process necessary to determine when the working short premium is applied will be forthcoming. A consistent patient care assessment process (PCAP) is not fully developed across all health authorities.

We will keep members informed as we approach the implementation date of April 1.

All members have been advised that effective immediately, there will be no further BCNU gatherings of nurses at union functions such as scheduled regional meetings, mini-regionals, steward meetings and education offerings due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, report-out meetings intended to update members on the contract implementation have been postponed. The benefits and pension review processes and related information sharing scheduled for those report-out meetings will also be delayed.

While in-person meetings are being minimized, members are encouraged to contact their union representatives via email and phone during this time. To find out who your steward and/or other elected representatives are, login in to the BCNU Member Portal and click on the 'contacts' tab.

Please to continue to check BCNU eNews for updates on these and other critical matters as they arise.

If you are NOT receiving updates, news, and events emailed to you, log in to the BCNU Member Portal and update your information.
