Applications for Partial Reimbursement of College Registration Fees to Open in Coming Months

January 12, 2021
Efforts to streamline application process underway for BCNU members under the NBA collective agreement

BCNU recognizes the significant concerns our members have around their professional college fee increases and related insurance costs. During the last round of bargaining, BCNU was successful in negotiating a partial reimbursement of nurses' college and licensing fees. BCNU members covered by the Nurses Bargaining Association (NBA) collective agreement will be able to apply for partial reimbursement of their annual registration fees in the coming months for the 2021/2022 licensing year. The union administers the reimbursement as part of the agreement reached.

To continuously improve processes and efficiencies, BCNU is working to streamline the reimbursement application process for members. This year, during the registration process with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), members now have the option to consent to BCCNM sharing their registration renewal confirmation with BCNU. This information-sharing agreement should make for a smoother and easier reimbursement application process for members.

Members who applied for the last round of reimbursement and give consent should not need to provide a registration confirmation receipt to BCNU. Please keep a copy of your receipt in the event you are asked to provide confirmation to BCNU. Members applying for reimbursement for the first time will need to provide a registration confirmation receipt to BCNU for verification purposes. More details will be available in the coming weeks and will be shared via member eNews and posted to BCNU's website.

While we work to provide you with further information, you can:

Renew your practising licence with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (formerly BC College of Nursing Professionals) and select the option to provide consent to share your registration information with BCNU. BCNU will receive registration renewal information only for members who have provided their consent.  Note that the last day for renewals on the BCCNM website is February 26, 2021.
