BCNU Bargaining and Job Action Committees Elected at Provincial Conference

More than 450 delegates gathered in Vancouver on Oct. 4 and 5 to attend a two-day Nurses’ Bargaining Association (NBA) provincial bargaining conference

Delegates elected members to the bargaining committee who will bring forward concerns from acute, long-term care and community care settings. The elected bargaining committee members will represent nurses in upcoming negotiations and establish bargaining priorities aimed at improving health care for nurses and patients.

The seven members elected to the NBA Provincial Bargaining Committee will join BCNU Interim Chief Executive Officer Jim Gould and President Aman Grewal at the bargaining table in meetings with health employers and the provincial government.

In addition to the BCNU representatives listed above, the NBA Bargaining Committee will consist of Health Sciences Association members Nicole McIntosh and Alyson Warner who also represent nurses in the NBA.

Conference delegates also elected the representatives who will serve on the union's Provincial Job Action Committee (PJAC). These members will join Provincial Treasurer Sharon Sponton and Executive Councillors Michelle Sordal and Aida Herrara to develop, implement and coordinate a provincial job action strategy. The NBA collective agreement covers more than 56,000 nurses in BC. The contract expired on March 31, 2022.
