Nurses' Votes Count in Upcoming Municipal Elections
BCNU is a politically active and non-partisan organization which means we do not support any political party, but we do organize around issues. As strong advocates and natural leaders, it is important that nurses and other care providers are heard in as many political arenas as possible. We are proud to encourage our members to run for election in order to champion policies that improve patient care and reflect BCNU's core values, beliefs and political action priorities.
Members running in the upcoming general local elections are encouraged to reach out to BCNU's provincial executive committee and request BCNU's support for their candidacy (BCNU Policy 9.3.12). While financial contributions from the organization are no longer permitted under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, BCNU is able to share information about the upcoming elections and link to candidate information.
Member candidates may email their information to BCNU Vice President Adriane Gear at adrianegear@bcnu.org. Those candidates who meet the criteria outlined in BCNU Policy 9.3.12 will have their election campaign information featured on BCNU.org for members' awareness and consideration.
