BCNU Gears Up for Provincial Contract Negotiations

August 22, 2024
NBA bargaining process begins with a series of regional conferences

Planning is underway for Nurses’ Bargaining Association (NBA) contract negotiations with a series of two-day regional bargaining conferences scheduled across the province in the coming months. These events, along with an upcoming bargaining survey, will be vital for gathering NBA members’ top priorities and setting the stage for the negotiations ahead.

The regional conferences are being held ahead of BCNU’s 2025 provincial bargaining conference, which takes place Feb. 26-27, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

This year, BCNU is grouping regional bargaining conferences by health authority as much as possible. This approach aims to broaden collaboration by bringing more members together to better align bargaining priorities, share experiences, and address common challenges. A one-day virtual (online) conference focused on human rights and equity issues will also take place with the aim of including a wide range of member perspectives in the bargaining process.

Regional bargaining conference attendees will discuss the current bargaining climate, review the bargaining process, identify key priorities for potential job action and develop proposals for the NBA bargaining table. Each region will elect delegates and alternates to attend the provincial bargaining conference, where delegates will elect the members of the provincial bargaining and job action committees.

How to get involved

Members covered by the NBA provincial collective agreement are encouraged to register for their respective regional conference and nominate themselves to attend the provincial bargaining conference as a delegate or alternate. While it is recommended that provincial bargaining conference nominees attend their regional conference, it is not mandatory.
