Ratification of Nurses' Proposed Contract Officially Underway

Details of the 2019 - 2022 tentative NBA provincial contract online behind member portal

Members will soon be able to cast their vote to ratify the tentative agreement reached between the Nurses' Bargaining Association (NBA) led by BCNU, and the Health Employers Association of BC. This agreement - one that will elevate and advance the profession of nursing - was reached following one round of collaborative, solutions-focused bargaining negotiations.

A number of initiatives are now underway to provide members with the correct information, prior to casting their ballot. The general voting day is January 21, 2019, however there will be opportunities for advance voting starting December 10 at contract ratification sessions around BC.

BCNU Member Portal

The following materials are available behind the BCNU Member Portal:

  • Letter from the President; an official endorsement in support of the agreement from BCNU President Christine Sorensen
  • 2019-2022 NBA PCA: Proposed Terms of Settlement; the proposed contract language in full
  • Summary Report; a high-level overview of the highlights
  • Language Applicability Chart; to outline who the key language applies to, and when it comes into effect
  • Language Implementation Chart, to provide an overview of timelines for when language will be actioned and implemented

NBA Contract Ratification Sessions

Starting December 10, BCNU's bargaining committee will begin a 6-week tour of the province hosting a series of face-to-face meetings with members to review the language details and answer questions. BCNU Telephone Town Halls

Members will be contacted via their personal phone number, to participate in two telephone town halls scheduled for December 12 and January 14. BCNU President Christine Sorensen will be joined by BCNU CEO and lead negotiator, Umar Sheikh, to take member questions over the phone.
