Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada releases summary of report

Honouring the Truth, Reconciling for the Future

Earlier this month the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada released a summary of its final report. The Commission has spent the past six years documenting the experiences of Aboriginal people whose lives, and those of their loved ones, were torn apart by the Residential School System.

The BC Nurses' Union is deeply committed to the process of genuine reconciliation. We take to heart the recommendations outlined in the report and recognize that we have a historic responsibility to support Aboriginal people in their quest for justice.

In recognition of National Aboriginal Day we encourage all our members to take the time to read through the summary of the final report and reflect on what we can do, as individuals and as a union, to make reconciliation a reality.
