BCNU President Aman Grewal kicked off the union’s 40th annual convention with an overview of the work that she and elected leaders have undertaken on nurses’ behalf over the last year.
BCNU Joins CFNU Family on First Day of Convention
Convention 2022 got off to an exciting start on Wednesday morning, and this year’s theme, Strength in Solidarity, rang truer than ever as special guest, CFNU president Linda Silas, announced BCNU will be joining the federation.
Interim Chief Executive Officer Report
BCNU’s Interim Chief Executive Officer Jim Gould began his address by recognizing the dire working conditions of members and the impact this continues to have on nurses and their patients. He thanked delegates for the compassionate care they provide every day even when they themselves are overwhelmed and exhausted.
Financial Report Provided to Delegates
BCNU Provincial Treasurer Sharon Sponton provided a financial report to delegates on the first day of convention. Among the highlights were overviews of BCNU’s financial position, bursaries and partial college reimbursement.
Member Engagement and Political Action
BCNU Vice President Adriane Gear delivered a fulsome report on her portfolio, including updates on provincial human rights and equity (HRE) committee work, member engagement, campaigns and political action and ongoing support for the elected regional council lobby coordinators.
