Martha Paynter
Speaker Bio:
Martha Paynter is a registered nurse practicing in abortion and postpartum care. She is a PhD Candidate in Nursing at Dalhousie University where her research is situated at the intersection of criminalization and reproductive health. She is a Pierre Elliott Trudeau Scholar, a CIHR Banting-Best Doctoral Scholar, and a Killam Laureate. In 2012, she founded Women's Wellness Within (WWW), a non-profit organization that works to advance reproductive health and justice for people experiencing criminalization while pregnant or parenting young children in Nova Scotia. In spring 2020, she launched Nurses for Police and Prison Abolition with nursing colleagues at Dalhousie University.
