Our Health-Care System Doesn’t Need More Heroes. We Need More Nurses.
After countless months of the COVID crisis, nurses are exhausted. A critical shortage of nurses and a desperate lack of support means nurses are struggling to provide the safe patient care that every British Columbian deserves.
From lengthy delays for urgent care to unexplained rescheduling of elective procedures, the dire and worsening shortage of nurses is having serious impacts on patient care. Nurses cannot sustain the health-care system at the price of their own mental and physical health any longer.
It is time for the BC government to act now. More resources and urgent government attention must be allocated to address the nursing shortage now, and into the future.
